Adulting ain't easy.

Chris has been traveling for work, so I've been solo with this human tornado who also happens to be a threenager. Hes been singing the alphabet song on repeat for 8 days. 8 freaking days. He wakes up every night, climbs in bed with me, and despite the fact that we have a king size bed, completely invades my personal space and kicks me in the face. It's like sleeping with a drunk octopus. In my attempt to have a moment of silence, I wake up early. The earlier I wake up, the earlier he wakes up. It's like he has a sixth sense. Like wtf.

But here's the bright side. ☀️He's smart and healthy and spunky and cute. I don't have to be tied to a schedule, as my work fits around my life. Thank goodness, because trying to get out of house looking like a human seems near impossible right now. 😂 I've just re-launched our New Coach Academy into a new self paced, online course, and am super excited about the new platform. It is going to give our team all of the resources they need to be successful!!

If you are that someone who is seeking a way to a way to make the madness of your life less maddening, we should connect. I'd love for you to have the opportunity to learn not what about what I do and you can too. 🙌🏻

The only thing getting me through this mid March snowing weather is knowing that in a few short weeks my pale booty will be on the beaches of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! 🌴

This is an all expense paid, all inclusive resort stay that I earned JUST for helping other people reach their health and fitenss goals in 2016. And if that weren't amazing enough, we have enough support from friends and family to leave Ziggy here and enjoy a real couples vaca!! 👫

So, go ahead snow, keep it coming. We have our eyes on blue water and white sand! 🌊

#transformationtuesday

When I was approached with this coaching opportunity, the first words out of my mouth were, "sounds great, but I don't have time."

I was working out of the house full time, had just celebrated Ziggy's first year, and chris and I were working opposite schedules. There were literally days where I felt like I couldn't take a sip of air! 😆

But, After some thought said "sure, I'll learn more."

I think about where I would be if I hadn't just said "yes" to learning more 👉🏼 still commuting over 1 hour each day, still handing off my growing boy to a sitter every day while I spent time with other people's kids, still being a passing ship in the night with Chris. And living to pack, unpack, and repack bags. 🙈

Now, I'm on a mission to help other women find the same fulfillment and freedom. You're busy? Perfect! Because it's my experience that busy people know how to get shiz done 😉

Want to know something awesome?

We celebrated this sweet boy's third year today! He is so full of love and light, and he had such a wonderful time with his little friends on this perfectly sunshiny Sunday! ☀️

I was able to soak it all up--no feeling of Sunday anxiety about the work week starting. I have a to-do list, but it fits around what's most important. And it's all because I said "yes" to an opportunity to raise my coaching business, while raising my baby boy.

I'm putting the finishing touches on our new March coach training academy--completely revamped and updated 🙌🏻 Its not too late to jump in if you're ready to say "yes!" I'm just a quick message away

I'll be cleaning up the madness in the meantime! 😳

We spent the day at the children's museum, and I'm not sure who had more fun 😂

This time last year, I was teaching full time. Chris and I worked opposite schedules, playing single parenting roles, with a sitter in between.

In August, I resigned from my teaching job to focus solely on my coaching business.

And, just recently, chris took a new job, which is going to require 9 weeks of remote training.

Sure, this being away is going to be tough. But, I am so grateful for a job that does not require me to hustle out the door each day before 630am while playing the single parent role.

We'll be looking for people to keep us company, so if you're in the area, hollaaaaaa 🙌🏻

Monday morning library dates with my boo 😍

Monday's used to be full of anxiety and dread--hustling out the door before ziggy woke, leaving him with caregivers, a long commute and wishing the days away until the weekend came.

I hustled hard to get rid of that anxiety forever and I'm looking to extend this opportunity to other mama's who want to escape the grind!

Women who know they were made for more. Women who are tired of working hard just to make ends meet and can't believe how much of their paycheck goes to childcare. Mamas who want to make a difference in the lives of others, without leaving their babies.

You don't have to be a mama to rock this gig. But you must be hardworking, ready to learn, and wanting to live your healthiest life! (Best job requirements ever.)

🙌🏻Every kid deserves a strong mama 🙌🏻

It's not about having a super sexy mom bod, or having 6 pack abs. It's about feeling strong, inside and out, for all of the challenges that motherhood presents.

I couldn't do a tuck jump when I started. I just started, did what I could, and committed to showing up every day. And ya know, I learned I was a lot stronger than I thought I was.

We're putting the final touches on our next support and accountability group that begins Monday, and have one space left. It's yours if you're ready!

February 22.💫you are the author of your life 💫

I knew from the time that I was very young that I wanted to teach.

There is something about being a part of the “light bulb moment” in someone’s life that is so fulfilling and rewarding. I graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies, and went on to earn my Master of Education from Carlow University. I began teaching in Charter schools throughout the city of Pittsburgh, and ultimately found my way into the virtual classroom with one of the largest cyber charter schools in Pennsylvania. I had found my niche.

Then, in March 2014, Ziggy was born, and my perspective on the world changed. Time no longer stood still as he grew. As we watched him observe the world, the little things suddenly weren’t so little any more. He was a constant reminder of what was really important, and that my time was invaluable.

My maternity leave rolled into summer, and when it came time to return to work 5 months postpartum, I was torn. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.

If you told me pre Ziggy that I would have shifted my career focus after spending years working toward my teaching credentials, I wouldn't have believed you. But, here I am. ❤️

As we grow and change, our priorities grow and change, and we need to be okay with these shifting with the seasons of our lives.

Chances are, few of us are in our final chapter! Write yours.

The weather in western pa today is on POINT 👌🏼☀️

I just finished up a call with one of the amazing coaches on our team and she said, "you know sarah, this is the first time I have ever been at this weight in February. I usually wait until may to get my shit together." 💃🏻

And it's funny, because after Ziggy's swim lesson today, I thought, "you know, I'm not too disappointed with my pale ass mid winter reflection in this bathing suit." 👙

So, how did we do this?

🌟 living by the 80/20 rule; fueling our bodies by way of the right foods, in the right portions 80% of the time, and enjoying things like chocolate, wine and pizza 20% of the time

🌟a daily superfood shake

🌟25-30 minute workouts, streamed right to our living rooms

🌟staying connected with our online support and accountability group AKA the secret sauce

Did you know we all have 168 hours each week?

🔸Even with sleep, hours spent at a full time job, commuting/getting ready and a daily workout, we have about 51 hours of free time. 🕰

🔸Only 13% of employees worldwide are engaged at work. 😳

🔸24% are actively disengaged. 😆

🔸Millions of people spend 3-4 hours of their workday scanning Facebook and other social media outlets, and spend hours watching TV in the evening. 🖥📱

🔸When you are unhappy and unproductive, you are liable to spread negatvity to others. 🙈

Did you know that there' a better way?

🔸Building the roots of a successful coaching business takes only 7-10 hours per week. 💃🏻

🔸Coaching requires that you not only take care of your body by way of proper nutrition and exercise, but through personal development. 🍏💪📖

🔸It also allows for mid day library dates in yoga pants with people that you love. 🙌🏻

If you are sick of feeling unfulfilled and disengaged or feel like you're just rolling through the motions, you should start putting some of those wasted hours to good use. I'm hosting a totally informal, online informational coaching group and would love to have you. Check out the details in the comments below.

It's never too late to make the rest of your life, the best of your life ❤️

February 14.

I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy. You won’t find many pictures of me during this time, or even in the months that followed. I was filled with the fear of "letting go" and allowing my body do what it needed to do in order to accommodate a growing baby. Instead of embracing the miracle that IS pregnancy, I found myself thinking about how I didn't have control, fear that I would never find my way back into pre-pregnancy clothes, or that I would ever have the resources I needed to bounce back postpartum. 😐

Funny how everything changes the moment yout hold that baby in your arms. <3

Do you know what I've learned? That a woman's body has the ability to create, grow and sustain LIFE, and that is a miracle. I have learned that a tiny person can inspire us to be a better version of ourselves than we ever thought possible. I have learned that inward strength is what radiates outward, and that as a WHOLE defines who we are. That with support, we can achieve ANYTHING we set our minds to. 😎

As for those pre-pregnancy pants? I got back into them. And, I'm stronger in body and in mind than I ever was pre-baby. Should we be blessed with another pregnancy, I will embrace my body as it grows and changes, because I KNOW that I have a resources that I need to nail my goals, and fuel me both inside and out. And I will document the shit out of the journey! 🙌🏻

Those home workout programs and that shake that I drink on the daily? They work y'all. 🤘🏼

You know where to find me when you’re ready.

Advice I always give to expecting parents; never evaluate the state of your marriage between then hours of 12-6am. 😂

For real though.

We had a throwback to infant sleep patterns last night. Maybe he's under he weather, or growing. Maybe he's having bad dreams or waking up feeling scared? It's funny looking back and wondering how we ever survived these for months on end 😳

It may seem like I have my shit together. Oh guys, I have you fooled. Are you ready for this one?? 😳

I won an all inclusive resort stay in Punta Cana for Chris and I this spring. I registered back in November, jotted he dates down in my calendar, and we carried on with our lives. 🌴

Just last night, we sat down to map out the details of our stay, and decided to extend our trip our trip by one day. We were super pumped! I shared with other leaders on our team that we were booked, and shared our dates! 👙

Ready for the part that really sucked?

Back in November when I wrote the dates in my calendar, I marked the wrong week 😖

So, we essentially booked airfare for dates that didn't align with our trip dates. We were up until midnight cancelling everything we had just booked, also realizing that what is supposed to be our first day of our trip is conflicting with a huge and important event for Chris. 😆

Ive been so, so upset, and have spent the entire day reflecting.

Do you know what doesn't suck?

I work with a company that provides incentives like all inclusive luxury vacations. That is amazing. We will map out our plan B this evening, and even if our trip is a day shorter vs a day longer, it will still be a blast. And, we've learned that I can no longer be responsible for keeping track of this kind of stuff 😂

So, I just burned off some serious stress doing my workout with this maniac, just reminding myself that I really do have so much to be grateful for. ❤️

Waking up early each day to work my business so that I can enjoy a hike and sunshine with this stud mid day? ☀️

A sacrifice I am absolutely willing to make 🙌🏻

What I do as a coach provides freedom, it provides choice, it provides flexibility. All things that are important to our family, and things I didn't think were possible for me when I was teaching full time! 👨‍👩‍👧

What little things would you sacrifice to have the ability to live your life by design?

Every day, Chris and I have the overwhelming responsibility to teach this sweet boy the foundation of everything he needs to know in this life.

We hope to teach him to be kind, to have good manners, to be unselfish. To understand the value of hard work and collaboration. We strive to encourage creativity in all that he does, and laughter in every day. We hope to instill the value of true friendship and of family. And the importance of giving back. We must remind ourselves daily that he is learning in every moment, through every experience, through every observation. And that if he is loved, he will love. ❤️

Man. What an awesomely huge task.

I spent years preparing for my education degree and credentials. (Partly because I partied too much in my undergrad 😂) Seven years, a few switched majors, a bachelors + masters degree, 30k+ in student loan debt, and I finally stepped into the classroom. I taught for 7 years. 📝

If you told me then that I would ultimately give it all up to focus on my own online health and fitness business, I would have called you cray. It's funny how priorities change as we grow and change. 👉🏼👶🏼

So now, I spend my early mornings building my little empire, sometimes with an early rising toddler on my lap who is building his. I wouldn't have it any other way. ❤️

My team is full of busy women--mamas, teachers, corporate execs, nurses, group ex instructors, bartenders, nannies. We all have one thing in common; the desire to live our best life, and help others do the same 🙌🏻

We had friends over recently for dinner. When they walked into our tiny kitchen, they said, "wow, so this is where all the
magic happens!" 😂

Yup. In my tiny kitchen, with my potty training toddler. I didn't realize when I started, it this is part of where the roots of my business were born. Just me, cooking, snapping pictures with my iphone, and sharing them on social media. 🍴

My entire coaching business was built on my phone and an old laptop. 📱💻

I didn't have any special degrees or certifications. I didn't use a fancy camera or an office. I didn't attend special trainings. I didn't have a social media following or a huge network. I was not a fitness or nutrition expert. I had hesitations and fears, but decided to go for it. 🙌🏻

I just committed to a healthy lifestyle, began sharing it, and inviting others to join me. I stared and showed up every day. That's it. 💫

That decision led to an opportunity to leave my full time teaching job, and focus on living my life on my terms. It continues to lead me to a growing team of like minded people who I call my TEAM, and the opportunity to help and inspire so many. ❤️

How different my life, and so many others would be if I had listened to my fears and hesitations. 🙈

Sometimes you just need to break outside of your comfort zone. THAT is where true learning, growth and opportunity happen 💫

Full disclosure:

This day was a total sh*t show. I volunteered to help Ziggys class cook today at school. Which meant I had to get up, workout, shower, feed Ziggy, feed me, dress us both in something presentable, and get out the door by 845.

I used to do all of this, every day, before 630 am. 😳 (Don't miss those days)

Today, I overslept, still somehow managed to get my workout in, spilled coffee on my white sweater, changed, knocked a box of Cheerios all over the kitchen floor. We were late to school, I had to make an extra stop on our grocery route afterward due to poor planning, and because running late was the theme, had to stop in a Panera parking lot to pick up wifi and register for next year's free trip to Rivera Maya🌴 Ok fine, the last part did not suck 😜

Sooooo, if you sent me a message and are waiting for a response, I'll be in touch after Ziggy goes to bed tonight. ❤️

Thank goodness I don't have to get dressed everyday 😂 #thatmombosslife

January 18.

Thank you for all of the birthday messages, calls and love yesterday! ❤️🎈I had an amazing day and am confident that 35 will be the best year yet. 🙌🏻

I always said that if I owned my own business, I would give all of my employees a PTO day on their birthday. While I don't employ anyone {yet!}, I am a business owner. And it's funny, because when Chris asked me what I wanted to do, work was in the list. 😂

💫they say that when you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life💫

So, I woke up, worked out with Chris, we shared breakfast, I brought Ziggy to school, and listened to one of my favorite podcasts. I spent the morning replying to messages, developing content for the informational coach group I'm hosting over the weekend, and updating my blog. The afternoon was spent meal planning, reading through cookbooks {#admittedfoodnerd} and then I headed out for an early dinner in the city with these two. 😍

I loved teaching. But I didn't love the daily grind. If you are looking for a way to better fuel your life's balance, you should join us this weekend. There's no obligation to join or commit to anything, just the opportunity to open your ears and eyes to what it is that i do as a coach. Who knows, it could quite possibly be the opportunity that changes the course of the rest of your life. 🌟

#transformationtuesday

I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy. You won’t find many pictures of me during this time, or even in the months that followed. I was filled with the fear of "letting go" and allowing my body do what it needed to do in order to accommodate a growing baby. Instead of embracing the miracle that IS pregnancy, I found myself thinking about how I didn't have control, fear that I would never find my way back into pre-pregnancy clothes, or that I would ever have the resources I needed to bounce back postpartum. 😐

Do you know what I have learned?

In June 2013, we learned that we were expecting a baby. We weren’t ready. I cried. A lot.

If in that moment I knew what an incredibly positive impact this one tiny person was going to have on our life, I probably wouldn’t have cried so much. He has taught me about self respect, about inner strength, about the power of my body. He has re-taught me the simple joys of love, light, laughter, and the importance of simple acts of kindness. He inspires me to be better every.single.day. ❤️

You guys, it's the secret sauce. 👊🏼

I wonder if chris would have still said "I do" if he knew he would wake up to his accountability partner daily 😂😂

If you want support, don't know where to start, feel like you're too busy, feel like sh*t from all the sugar and crap you ate in December, want to stay accountable to your goals, or anywhere in between, you should message me. I have a free 25 day firness challenge beginning today and can get you plugged in!!! 👯👯

When your baby, who's not really a baby any more, falls asleep on your lap ❤️

Perfect timing for this busy human to fall into dreamland, because I am about to hop on our new coach call. We host these monthly as part of our new coach training program. This is one of my favorite calls we do--sharing exactly what we do to help our new coaches to be successful!! 👯

And yes, our Christmas tree is still up 😂 🎄Anyone else??

🌟They say that if you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done. 🌟

You guys. When I started this business less than two years ago, there were people who judged me, people who disconnected with me on social media, and people who, absolutely, hands down, did not believe that I had anything of value to offer. 😱

And do you know what I did? I kept showing up. I continued to share and invite people to amazing support groups we offer. I continued to grow, train and mentor my team. I continued to stay focused on where I was going

All of those early mornings, late nights, skipped series on Netflix series and passing on lunches out with friends? It's paid off, y'all. 👊🏼

Last week, I woke up to a paycheck earned in one week in that I had never earned in one week during my 7 years of teaching. That choice to leave my full time teaching job back in August to focus on this#momboss thing? 😎

I'm always teaching and mentoring go getters that are interested in building an online coaching business. If you think you have what it takes and are interested in learning more, send me a quick message. 📧

It could, quite possibly, be that thing that changes the course of your life ❤️

Well, I wake up every day eager to check my inbox, my accountability groups, collaborate with my team and our leaders. I'm always excited to participate in training calls, to continue to learn, grow and be challenged. And, to be a hands on part of raising this incredible human. ❤️

It’s hard to believe that we are about to wrap up another year, isn’t it?! Every year brings its challenges, but there is are always achievements worth celebrating... 🍾

Chris and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. We haven’t even tried killing each other yet! 👫

We’ve kept a human alive for almost 3 years. He’s smart, spunky, adventurous, and, in my opinion, stunning. 🙇🏼

I broke outside of the “norm” and made a big career change--leaving my teaching career to follow my passions as a online health coach and entrepreneur.💃🏻

We designed and launched our tee shirt and tank line; The Veg Out Project. A brand designed to help others integrate more plant based meals into their life, and to spread the message. 🍏

I am leading a team of coaches in the TOP 450 out of a network of over 460,000 coaches!! What’s crazy is that I didn’t even know what I was doing when I started--I just started. Now, leading a growing team of other badass women who are making a HUGE impact on their lives, and the lives of others. 👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯

My business achievements earned Chris and I an all expense paid trip to Punta Cana in 2017! 🌴

Most importantly, I have spent 6 solid months prioritizing my TIME by things that are most important to me. And, I am working to help others find the same freedom. 💫

So 2016, that’s a wrap. 2017--I look forward to all that you have in store!! ❤️

An excuse that I hear often: "I don't have time", or "I'm too busy."

You guys! I am currently working with a group of 27 ladies that are busy. Many are moms, many work full or part time jobs. All are preparing for the holidays--cooking, baking, shopping, wrapping gifts, delivering people and things, and well, just doing the damn thing. 💃🏻

You know what sets these women apart from everyone else? They made a CHOICE. They are no less busy than anyone else. They don't have 26 hours in a day either. They just decided that yes, I am worth it. 🙌🏻

How freaking inspiring is that?!

So if you're wondering how to make a positive change, whether it be for your health, your career, or anything else that will generally be a vehicle to create more happiness in your life, you just need to decide that yes, I am worth it. 🌟

December 11.

I spoke with a friend recently who was like "Sarah, I don't know how you do it all!"

I told her something, and I want to share with you too.

I shower an average of 5 days a week. I raise my voice. My small kitchen is always trashed. I drop f bombs. {Sometimes in front my 2 year old.} Ive learned to complete most things in shifts. I eat chocolate. We're always late. When I can, I stay in my PJs all day and cook. I shop the sales rack at discount stores. I give Ziggy lollipops and let him watch cartoons. My car has a tape deck. Yes, a tape deck.

I am no different than anyone. I am just a thirty something first time mom. Like many of you, I am trying to figure out how to raise a toddler, take care of myself, keep my marriage and friendships alive.

It's easy to get caught up in the highlight reel. Do what makes you feel good, share it, and continue to live in a way that makes you feel good and inspires you--let the rest go. It's your highlight reel.

And above all, remember that you're doing a great job. ❤️

Let me tell you something...

I would be willing to bet that not one person, ever, has said, "Wow! I have so much extra time to dedicate to my fitness and nutrition!" 🕐

Here's the thing guys. We all have 24 hours in a day. It comes down to a choice. You choose to make time to your health a priority. Or you don't. 👊🏼

Strive for progress {a stretch sesh among a toddler and Christmas decorations in boxes}, not perfection, and it becomes impossible to fail. ❤️

Question I get all the time: How do you get your kid to eat healthy?

🌟 Offer them a variety of healthy foods. If they have a choice between sliced carrots, peppers and cucumbers, chances are they will favor at least one of the three.

🌟 As a general rule of thumb, keep crap out of the house. Ya know, the stuff marketed to kids with a cartoon character on the front. Im talking unsweetened full fat yogurt vs flavored; low sugar cereals like Cheerios and plain rolled oats; whole grain crackers and air popped popcorn vs "kid snacks;" fruit leather vs fruit snacks, lots of fresh fruits and veggies.

🌟 Be a role model! Do it now, while they still think you're cool. If you wait until they are 13, you may have missed the boat.

🌟 Don't MAKE them eat anything!! Encourage them to TRY everything! If they don't like it, praise them for trying, and give it go again in a few weeks.

🌟 Strive for balance, not perfection. Life without a lollipop or a cupcake for kid is like life without wine for a mama. 😉

When I was teaching full time, I was in constant hustle mode. 😳 Wake up early, cram in a workout, pack bags, commute, long work day, commute, pick up Ziggy, cook, bathe, bed, unpack bags, repeat. That was no way to live! 🚫

My calendar said core de force recovery, but the sunshine called us out for an adventure.

It's on autumn days like these that heaven peaks through and paints the trees. 🍁

I am certain that my dad continues to watch over us, and is the reason why I am still here after many not-so-great decisions over the years. He gives me a reason not to fear death and to see him again one day in Heaven.

His life is that reminder that you can make a big impact in a short amount of time. To follow your passions. To love. To laugh. And that sometimes, rules are made to be broken.

Want to know something awesome?

Just a few short months ago, I taught first grade full time. Now, I get to stay at home with this amazing small human each day. 😀

This happened with the support of my partner and biggest cheerleader in life, Chris. It happened with the support and guidance from my upline sponsors and mentors, Ashly and Megan. It happened with the collaborative efforts of a of an incredibly driven, passionate and growing group of people who I am blessed to call my TEAM. It happened with a little village of people who help us to care for Ziggy. It happened with those in our challenge groups who inspire me to do better, to be better, and to continue to propel forward every.single.day. My most recent project with the creative force of people I am so fortunate to call my friends (10 Jones!) And, the support of every one of you. Every single interaction, every message, every shared photo & post--they do not go unnoticed. ❤️

I am living proof that anything can be done with a clear VISION--with consistency, perseverance, a positive outlook, and with 10 million things on your plate. Cause let's be honest, busy people know how to get shit done. #youcantoo

So, I continue to be a woman on a mission to help others find the same freedom. If getting paid to lead a healthy life, staying connected with a community of uplifting and empowering people and creating a vehicle to make your other dreams a reality sounds like something you are interested in learning about, I am just a quick message away. 📧

Fun Fact:

I wasn’t an immediate believer in Shakeology. I mean, I didn’t need to supplement my diet with some processed powder in a bag. I eat a super balanced diet. I eat so healthy! I didn’t need this stuff--Not me!

What I quickly learned is that for a mere $4 a day, it would replace my daily multi vitamin, pre/probiotic AND guarantee that I had at least one healthy meal to plug into my crazy mama life. It's comprised of WHOLE foods, many superfoods, from around the world, packing in vital nutrients, antioxidants and phytonutrients (those are the good guys who boost immunity). And you all know how I like my whole foods 😉

You’d have to eat a whole lot of fruits and vegetables to equal the nutrition in a single glass of Shakeology—and you probably couldn’t do it for less than 170 calories. Truth be told, the majority of people are WAY MORE nutrient deficient, than they are protein deficient. So why just stop at a protein shake?

November 21.

This sweet angel had his first preschool program this morning. He didn't sing at all 😂 but it was super cute.

What's awesome is that I didn't have to shuffle my work schedule, take a PTO day, or run around like a crazy person to make it there in time. It was what was most important today, so it was what came first. This is a lot different than it was this time last year, and all possible because I said YES to the opportunity to raise my son and raise a coaching business 🎉

You can too.

November 16.

I don't think anything can really prepare you for being a mama. No one tells you that you will learn to function on an interrupted sleep schedule for years. Or that you will rarely have the opportunity to eat it an uninterrupted meal.

They don't tell you that you will have to rediscover your sense of self. Or that you will have to work at your marriage with great intention.

No one tells you that your mind will constantly be turned on, thinking about tomorrow, reflecting on yesterday and everything in between.

So sometimes, when your baby falls asleep on the way home, even when the timing is not right, you let them sleep. So you can have a moment of solidarity, a moment to reflect, to move and stretch your body, to de-stress.

Because what no one tells you is on most days, you will sacrifice just about everything for this small person. Just remember to find pieces of yourself as you grow along the way.

Ziggy also had big plans to wake up early and throw puzzle pieces all over the living room. 😑

Just last week, I began writing in a gratitude journal each morning. Even though an early rising toddler in rare form can be frustrating 😖, I have to encourage myself to look at the positive...He is eager to learn and explore his world. Not all kids are able to do that.

The best part about gaining an hour? Waking up at 6am on a Monday really feels like 7am #winning 💃🏻

People tell me all of the time that they don't have enough time. Not enough time to focus on their health, or to start their own business. 🕰

Guess what? I didn't either!

Want to know what I've learned?

That if you want something, you make the small changes necessary to make it work. 💁🏼

I was able to fit fitness back into my life in 30 minutes a day. 💪

In the first year, I built my business in ONE hour a day while teaching full time. One hour! 🙌🏻

Now, fitness is a part of my daily groove. ✌🏼

Now, I also have the freedom of waking up whenever I want, working my business where it fits best into my life, and being here every morning when this sweet boy shows his face. All in my pajamas. ❤️

We all have the same number of hours in the day, y'all. How do you use yours?

This sweet boy will be 3 years old exactly 4 months from today--oh my how the time flies.

He is spunky, he is busy, he is curious. He pays attention to detail, soaks up everything like a sponge, and is a constant reminder of how the little things....aren't so little. ❤️

He inspires me to be better every.single.day.

Each day, we are presented with a choice. 🔸

A choice to stay in our current situation, or a choice to push outside of our comfort zone and go after what we want in this life.

4 months ago, I was tied to my computer screen for 8 hours every Thursday. 💻

Today, I made some new connections, met some beautiful young ladies on our team (with their babies on their lap) for a training call, went grocery shopping and didn't stand in line, then we stopped for the final touch on Ziggy's Halloween costume. 🎃

Because I made a choice.

October 18.

The photo on the left popped up in my memories a week or so ago. The photo on the right was taken during our last days in Colorado just a few weeks ago. So, what has changed in that time?

On the left→ Ziggy was 7 months old, I was teaching out of the home full time. I was struggling with a lot of things-- I struggled with being a nursing mom who spent a lot of time away from her baby, with finding time for myself, with keeping things in my life as organized as I like them. I struggled with guilt--the guilt of leaving Ziggy again on the weekends to spend time with Chris or with friends. My weekends became this ongoing cycle of preparing for the week to come. Pack and unpack bags just to repack bags, repeat. I had this constant battle with myself because I was half assing everything--my role as a mom, a wife, a homeowner, a friend, a teacher, a colleague. I had totally lost sight of myself.

On the right → Ziggy is now 2.5, I am still teaching, it’s just different content. And I do it in my own time from anywhere with wifi. I don’t struggle with that much any more-- I don’t have to kiss anyone good-bye while they dream so that I can rush off to work before the sun shows its face. I know that if we have another baby, I will never have to sit in another marketing stock room and pump. I will never miss that first morning that they are standing in their crib, or the first few steps. And, I have embraced the chaos that is parenthood.

I have pulled myself off of the backburner, finding a way to fit fitness back into my life, and fuel my mind with personal development daily. I look forward to social obligations, and seek out time with the people that I love. I’ve learned that internal transformations are what radiate outward, and that true self love exists. That sometimes, you have dig a little deep for it. And that when you find it, you follow your own passions, not someone else’s.

Not all things change. My house is still trashed, Ziggy doesn’t sleep through every night, and I will never be as organized as I was in a previous life. But, I am present. <3

Ziggy was never a bath babe. 🛁

Ziggy also wasn’t an easy babe. I remember those first few months from 330pm on standing by the exhaust fan in the kitchen swaying him in an attempt to calm him down. Each minute between then and 6pm, when Chris usually arrived home, felt like an eternity. We tried everything--drives in the car, walking him in the stroller, wearing him, feeding him, music, pacifiers….

One evening, in an attempt to calm him, I stripped us both down and jumped in the shower. The warm water, coupled by the white noise immediately soothed him. This became a go-to for us when he needed soothed, but also became our immediate solution to the hour long bath time routine. When he was tiny, one of us would take him in the shower with us, bathe him, and then pass him off to the other so that we could finish our shower. When he began sitting up, he would sit on the shower floor and play. Once he began walking, he would just walk right into the shower with us. 🚿

This accidental routine has proved to help us in a few ways--not only does it save a ton of time by killing two birds with one stone (my shower and his), but he has also never developed a fear of water. He is a fish in the pool; confidently jumping right in and under. He is on track to be an independent little swimmer by next summer. 🐳

So, it turns out that those little things that we did in the beginning in an attempt to survive ended up being one of the things that we did right. 🙌🏻

Keep your head up mamas--you’re doing a great job ❤️

October 8.

People ask us often how we get our 2 year old to eat a balanced diet. The answer is simple:

He's 2. There are days that he sustains life off of peanut butter and bananas. 🙈

We don't ➡️ Play the "clean plate club" game, and we don't make him eat anything that he doesn't like just because it is good for him.

👆🏼THIS is how picky eaters are made. 👆🏼

We do ➡️ Fill his plate with a variety of small choices (typically what we are eating, deconstructed), and we encourage him to try everything.

Does it always work? No.

Do we have to sometimes bribe him with lollipops? Yes.

Do I allow myself to lose sleep over it? No.

I will just continue to be a positive role model, and, hopefully while he still thinks I'm cool, he will follow suit.

🏕 Two of those nights will be spent like this. I was worried about Ziggy escaping until I couldn't figure out how to get out 😂

Any tips on tent camping with a toddler welcome.

September 19.

This time last year, I was waking up at 5am to workout, rush out the door for a 30 minute commute, just to work an 8 hour day and commute 40 minutes home. I would pick up Ziggy, play or run errands for an hour, before it was time to cook dinner, unpack bags, repack bags, eat dinner, shower, book, bed routine. I would check in with my challengers and my team before mentally preparing to repeat this grind tomorrow.

I decided I would change that.

So now, we can take a 12 day vacation in September. We leave Thursday. 💃🏻 Today, I chose to send Ziggy to a caretaker for the day so that I could update my blog, collaborate on updating our New Coach Academy, prepare upcoming challenge group content, and squeeze in a mid day yoga sesh. I picked Ziggy up early this afternoon, in my yoga pants, and we hung out in the yard with Chris after sharing dinner. We went for a walk. We got ice cream (because, #balance). And I'm not stressed about tomorrow.

Why would I settle for the first scenario when I could have the second?? #youcantoo

 · September 15

I was in labor for 32 hours before Ziggy came. Between that and the whirlwind of adjusting at home those first few days were exciting, full of a million emotions, and flat out exhausting.

They have you take the babe to the pediatrician a few days after they are born to be sure they are adjusting well to being earth side. Chris and I sat in the waiting room, completely disheveled, completing our paperwork. We got to the part where they ask for the parent info and we, naturally, began filling in our parent's names. It wasn't until we reached the part where it asked for SSN that we realized that WE were the parents. 😂😂

And, we've continued to figure it out as we go and have laughed a lot since.

Isn't it crazy that this giant toddler was once a baby in my belly?! 😳

When I learned I was pregnant I was terrified about what would happen to my body. I learned quickly that I would have to just let it do what it needed to do in order to accommodate him as he grew and to prepare for bringing him earth side. 🌎

I also learned that our bodies are powerful and resilient. They have the ability to create and sustain LIFE. I learned that true confidence radiates from the inside, and that involves taking care of the outside. And, I learned that 30 minute workouts in my living room, paired with a daily dose of superfoods and clean eating, would give me obliques that my pre mama self didn't know existed.

Will still always be mind blown that he was once a baby in my belly. ❤️

We saw that as a sign that he was ready for a toddler bed, so we removed his crib rail and he became big boy bed official. The weeks that followed brought a huge sleep regression, and he ended up in our bed most nights.

So, after about 4 weeks, we put the crib rail back up. He began sleeping through the night again, and the changing table resumed its role as a holding cell😜

No one tells you that you will sacrifice just about everything for this small person. Just remember to find pieces of yourself as you grow along the way.

These 2 important people were there to greet us yesterday as we crossed the finish line 😍

If you told me a year ago that I would wake up at 445am to go run 13+ miles in the rain on a Sunday I would have thought you were cray. The last 12 weeks have once again proven the power of my body--its ability to adapt, its strength, its resilience. I've learned a lot about myself--I've made a lot of mistakes, pushed myself past my limit, consumed way too many carbs, shed a few tears, and laughed a lot.

I want to thank Keri for presenting me with this challenge--and send love to everyone who has supported me along the way--your encouragement was not overlooked and motivated me to push forward, even on the days I didn't want to.

You know, you're stronger than you think you are.

We had a difficult evening yesterday. I must remind myself that the season of childhood is brief, and to enjoy and soak up every moment, even the not-so-hot ones. That my role as a mother will show my true strength. And that even on days that I feel like I am scoring a big fat zero on the parenting scale, I am still his shining star.

I so often kick into survival mode as a working parent--I do whatever I need to do to just make it through the days (and nights) in one piece.

For us, that sometimes means 10pm bedtimes. It means Popsicles for dinner. It means letting him crawl into our big bed. While these things may may not be ideal, they're ours. And he's happy, bright and loved.

My love to all of the working mamas and papas out there--even in survival mode, you are doing more than you will ever know. ❤️

It's the shortest day of the year.

The day began with my face being used as a highway for toy trucks, followed a crashed work computer, a toddler who refused anything but kidney beans and jelly beans for lunch, and who has the crib escape on lockdown. The day was feeling shorter and shorter.

And just like that. The opportunity to finish my unfinished projects--food prep--laundry--the start of tomorrow's challenge group-- presents itself. Let the lullabies play.

March 3 ·

Today, Chris and I celebrated the birth of this little boy.

He has changed my life and transformed my purpose on so many levels. He has motivated me to take care of myself better than I ever have, to push outside of my comfort zone, to start a business, mentor others, and to work toward things that I once never dreamed possible. If you told me 2 years ago that one person would make such a huge impact on my life, I wouldn’t have believed it.

Here’s to an amazing third year, sweet boy. You have blessed us in more ways that you will ever know.

February 18 .

This guy is full of love and light, and is a constant reminder to me to be better everyday. It makes me proud when he signs please and thank you, when he waves hello, when he chooses a book without being prompted. He makes me proud when he fearlessly dunks his head beneath water, when he makes connections in his world, when he finds humor in things. He makes me proud when he shows signs of affection to those he loves, when he shares with a friend or when he waits patiently for his turn. His enthusiasm for LIFE is inspiring, and he makes me proud to be his mama every.single.day.

Yesterday, there was this moment. Our current work schedules don’t allow us to spend much time together as a family, so these are really special. THESE moments are what life is all about. It’s about playing at the park, building fires and burning grilled cheeses in the pie iron. It’s about watching Christmas shows and then wrapping gifts together on the unfinished basement floor.

I have been working toward freedom of time since April. Each and every Thursday, I am one step closer to that reality. Today, I received my largest paycheck to date from Beachbody. Moments like these will not be few and far between for much too much longer. And it is awesome.

I often wonder if my heart has room to grow, because it is bigger than it was 21 months ago.

Happy Day, sweet boy. You are our sunshine.

November 3, 2015 .

The role of working parent is not easy--most days are like a whirlwind. This balancing act has taught me a lot about myself, and a lot about what is important to me. I have learned that time is invaluable, and to soak up moments. It has brought my multitasking abilities to a whole new level, and given a whole new meaning to squeezing in as many baby snuggles as humanly possible. It has taught me that the world doesn’t end when there is a sink full of dirty dishes, or when the clean laundry isn’t put away. And that the party will go on, even if we are late for everything until 2035.

Today, I am thankful for the village that has helped Chris and I to raise Ziggy. Thank you for teaching him, for loving him, for laughing with him. Thank you for reading to him, for singing with him and for exploring this big awesome world with him. This balance is really hard, but it would be more difficult if he wasn’t spending his days with people that he loves.

If there is one thing that I have learned in this crazy journey in finding the optimal life balance, it is that I am the only one who has control over my happiness. We can allow unexpected turns to take us in a downward spiral, or we can choose to take them as a learning experience to make us better versions of ourselves.

Don’t be afraid to initiate change. Always work toward your dreams. Never ever give up.

Surround yourself by people that are uplifting and inspiring. Read books for personal growth. Say I love you. Get your smile on. Move your body. Hydrate and fuel. Never be afraid to ask for help. Most importantly, do things that make you feel good with people that you love. It is never too late, you are always worth it.

Change. A term that I have come to know well over the last 2 years. They say that all things come in waves--and they have certainly been crashing down over the last year or so. All positive, but not easy. Why can’t making a positive life change be a walk in park?

I recently made a change in my life that I didn’t want to make, but I had a million reasons WHY it needed to happen. The temptation to cheat or slack comes almost daily, and the fear of failure sets in. I remind myself of how far I have come and remind myself my reasons for WHY.

Here’s the thing: Change is HARD. Change takes TIME. It takes CONSISTENCY. It takes WILLPOWER and most importantly, keeping your eye on the prize. And that is your WHY.

We all have room to grow and make ourselves happier, healthier versions of ourselves. As I continue to grow and change, I am especially thankful for those closest to me, who see both the rays of sunshine and the thunder crashing down. with Ziggy and Chris Kaminski

June 30, 2015  ·

Yesterday was one of those days. One of those days that the baby wants to be held. All. Day. Long. The kind of day where everything that is offered for lunch and dinner is angrily thrown on the floor. The kind of day where rain clouds come in around noon and trump the sunshine. The kind of day where dinner involves a required break for a barefoot walk in the rain to reset the tone.

People often ask me how I “get it all done.”

When I made the decision to regain balance in my life, I had to reprioritize and there was a lot that I had to just LET GO of. I let go of the bathroom dust bunnies and weeds in the yard. I let go of the dishwasher being emptied each night. I let go of the cheerios sprinkled throughout the kitchen…and my car…and probably every square inch of our house. I let go of enjoying a baby-less shower, and blowing my hair dry. Most importantly, I made a conscious effort to let go of the negativity, and to see the positives—even on those days that the gray clouds continue crashing in. It makes days like yesterday seem okay.

I’m no different than anyone. We all have good days and not-so-good days. We accomplish incredible things each and every day—it’s just about taking the time to sit back and reflect every now and again. So today, I encourage you to capture moments and take time to reflect on your accomplishments—chances are you will find your inner superhuman.
