Roasted Applesauce

Ziggy loves applesauce. It is really cost effective to make it at home when apples are in season. Roasting the fruit eliminates the need to peel, or the natural sugars sticking to the bottom of a soup pot when preparing using the the traditional stove method. Also a perfect way to use fruit that is bruised, or not-so-appealing to eat fresh anymore.

Follow the same recipe for pears, peaches, or apricots.

What You'll Need

Any number of apples, quartered and cored

Preheat oven to 425* Arrange apples evenly in a roasting pan. Cook for 30-45 minutes, or until a fork slides out easily.

Cool completely. Transfer to a food processor. Puree until smooth, adding water as needed. Add honey to taste to kick up the sweetness.

Done. And done.
