The Success Club Trip Experience: Punta Cana Edition

Every year, Team Beachbody offers an all inclusive resort stay to coaches who consistently help others get started on their health and fitness journeys.  Yup, completely PAID FOR.

These trips have been to Disney, Cancun, a cruise around the Caribbean, to name a few.  This year, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic!  The trip includes a guest, all amenities, food, drink, live workouts with celebrity trainers, exclusive parties, training from top Elite coaches, a generous resort credit and more.  These family friendly trips are an opportunity to soak up some sun, meet coaches on our teams, and throughout the network, as well as truly, unplug, relax and have some serious FUN!

And, did I mention it's all paid for?!?

You guys, Team Beachbody knows how to throw a serious party.  Upon arrival, there was live entertainment, cocktails, and food in the lobby, making check in seem like a breeze.  Chris and I checked in to find we had been upgraded to a deluxe at no extra charge--Pool and ocean views, champagne literally CHILLING—we could get used to this!

We immediately connected with our team and their families who were there as well—two of which I was meeting “in real life” for the first time!  We grabbed drinks, headed down to the beach, and kicked off what would be an amazing week together!

The Dominican beaches are gorgeous—blue water, white sand.  There were plenty of lounge chairs available, and the water was crisp and refreshing.  Between the beach, a wonderful variety of pools, restaurants, bars, coffee shops & cafes, golf course, casino, clubs, live entertainment, spa and off site excursions, there is something for everyone at the Hard Rock Resort.

And the food.  OMG it was amazing!  Chris and I enjoyed our first meal at a Brazilian style restaurant, enjoying a variety of fresh salads, ceviche and shellfish.  Lunches to follow included fresh, whole grouper off of the grill poolside, coffee shop snacks, and a Mexican style buffet with quesadilla bar.  We shared dinner with friends each night, enjoying Caribbean, Italian, and Mexican inspired fare.  And let’s please talk about the daily breakfast spread:

We woke up each morning for a live workout with super trainers, Autumn Calabrese, creator of 21 Day Fix, and Chris Downing, creator of Shift Shop, available in a Beachbody On Demand library near you come July!!

Both group workouts were amazing—the energy between the music, live trainers, and huge group of coaches is truly fun and so inspiring!  Like, how is THIS what I do?!!

The Shakeology bars post workout don’t hurt, either ;)

The best part?

If you have a heart for helping others, and are interested in learning more about what we do as coaches, how we earn free trips around the globe, and how you can too, request to join my informational group.  No obligation, just information, that could quite possibly, change the course of the rest of your life <3

Travel Tips

A huge perk to working for yourself with an online business is the ability to take your work where you go. This year has involved a lot of traveling, which means a lot of eating on the go, and dining out.  While it may be challenging to stay completely on point with your nutrition when you're not at home, there are some little things you can do that will make a HUGE impact.   Below, find some of my favorite healthy hacks while on the move!

Always have on hand...

→ Unsalted, pre-portioned nuts (3 ounces!)

→  Apples, clementines or/or bananas.  Frozen grapes are great for car trips and double up as ice packs for the cooler!

→ Baby carrots, snap peas and/or grape tomatoes

Shakeology + power greens + a travel blender and/or shaker cup

Larabars-most bars of filled with funk.  These are super clean (2-5 real ingredients per bar, no added sugar) and delish.

Consider making before you go...

Banana Oat Cakes

On the Go Oats

Shakeology bars{In a bowl, mix 4 scoops chocolate Shakeology, 2 c rolled oats, 1/2 c chopped nuts, 1/2 c raisins, 1 c unsweetened almond milk, 1 medium ripe banana.  Press into an 8x8 pan, lined with parchment paper.  Refrigerate until firm.  Cut into 9 bars; place and baggies.  Keep in the fridge to grab on the go!}

For hotel stays longer than 2 days...

Stock your mini fridge with:

→ Unsweetened Greek yogurt

→ Snacking veggies (see above)

→ Hard fruits

→ Hummus

When dining out...

These tips inspired from my friend and coach, Ashly!

→  Do your homework. Look up the restaurant menu beforehand. Find the nutrition info and mentally commit to ordering a healthy option. The more you know, the less likely you are to choose an unhealthy dish!

→  Ask for modifications.  Don't be afraid to ask your server for modifications to make any meal healthier!

  • Grilled instead of fried

  • Steamed without butter/oil

  • Sauce on the side

  • Vinaigrette instead of creamy dressings

  • Mustard instead of mayo

  • Brown rice instead of white rice

→ Don't go hungry!  When you are ridiculously hungry and your stomach is growling, you will most likely house the bread basket before even thinking about what to have as your meal...and then regret it later! So if it can be avoided, don’t go to a restaurant when you are starving! Have a snack (or Shakeology) before you go!

→ Be mindful of portions.

  • Entrée portions are usually 2-3 servings, so ask for a box as soon as your meal arrives. Pack half of it to go; out of sight, out of mind.

  • Order a soup and a salad OR a salad and an appetizer instead of an entree.

→ Pass on bread, chips, and biscuits.  One breadstick at the Olive Garden is 140 calories, and let's be honest, who eats just one?! Biscuits come in around 160 calories and are loaded with tons of fat. Skip them and save your carbs for a better choice! (like red wine ;)

  • Restaurants typically give a double serving of dressing, so always ask for it on the side.  Take the prongs of your fork, dip them into the dressing, then your salad. You will get all the flavor, but half the calories and fat.

If you are flying...

Pressure changes can lead to back up and bloat, so I also recommend taking digestive boost daily to keep things moving.  This stuff has literally saved my life more than once. I shit you not.  Learn more about it here.

Wherever you go...

Stay active!

Look into community classes offered in the area you are visiting.  Many gyms and studios offer great daily/weekly rates for travelers.  If weather permits, get outside for a run or a hike, or get out on the water to paddle or kayak.  Fresh air is great for the body and mind.

Another amazing resource is Beachbody On Demand, delivering hundreds of amazing workouts via live stream.  Access your favorite workouts on your phone, computer or tablet--it goes where you go! Check out the 30 day free trial!

And, drink lots and lots of water!

Dehydration can lead to fatigue, constipation, headache and dizziness.  And who wants that?!

REMEMBER: It’s the small, seemingly insignificant choices that add up over time and yield long-term rewards!

Happy and Safe Travels!

The Summit Experience: 2016 Edition

After my first 3 months as a coach, I earned my free ticket to Team Beachbody's annual conference, Coach Summit in Nashville.  I was nervous and excited, as I didn't know what to expect.  I was planning to room with 2 women from our team who I know in our virtual world, but had never met in "real life." And, there were going to be a ton of coaches there!  I had never been to Nashville-- What should I pack to wear!?  I tossed come things into a suitcase, put my game face on, and kissed my 2 sweet boys goodbye as I headed into the airport.

I learned quickly that the events over the course of the weekend were to be made super simple with a Beachbody Summit app that provided all of the whos, whats and wheres, as well as text reminders.  My flight was super early, and I was the first to arrive.  So, I dropped by things off at the hotel, took some time to check in with my challengers and team, before heading over to the Convention Center to register.

I had a moment to let it all sink in once picking up my registration.  15 months prior, I was just 1 year postpartum, and seeking a way to pull myself off the backburner. So, I bought an exercise program.  That decision proved to create a ripple effect bigger than I dreamed possible. It pulled me off the back burner. It rekindled old friendships. It created new ones. It created a growing team of likeminded people with goals and dreams, and a VISION for the future. And, it inspired hundreds of people to make a positive change in their life and decide that, "Yes, I am worth it, too."  These badges and ribbons represented something so much bigger than myself. And there will be even more next year.  How cool is that?!

I went off to explore more of the Convention Center, full of Shakeology bars, recognition, shopping, and lots of people of yoga pants.  Then, a little exploring around Nashville.  What an amazing little city!  It is full of so much energy—tons of live music, culture, and yup, you guessed it, Johnny Cash.  Look at this awesome shirt I found for Ziggy!  (and some gear for me ;)

Next stop, our hotel, where I met Katie and Katie, my roomies for the weekend.  It’s crazy how even though we had never met in “real life,” we all quickly picked up conversation, as if we were just old friends picking up where we left off.  We relaxed, and then headed back to Convention Center for our live 22 Minute Hard Corps with Tony Horton!

For the record, yes, he is just as sexy in real life.  It was awesome.

In the evening, we headed to Nissan Stadium for the Opening Ceremonies.  We learned about some big announcements, upcoming product launches and specials, as well as some interviews with Beachbody super trainers, which had us all pumped up about the months to come!  We headed back room after a busy day, did a little #girlbossing, and prepared our bodies and minds for a busy weekend with rest.

Friday and Saturday were filled with workshops and general training sessions.  We heard from top coaches across the network, as well as keynote speakers, who brought words of wisdom not only for our business and our fitness, but for our minds.

Until pretty recently, I thought that personal development meant professional development. You know, the kind that your company offers to help you better understand their product or service. In my case, education budget, politics, curriculum, policy and procedure...

I have learned that personal development is about developing your person. It's not about a product, a dress code or office hours. It's about growing who you are as a person. It's about maximizing your personal strengths and your role in this big awesome world. It's about setting goals and gaining the confidence to reach them. It's about helping others to do the same.  And, I am partnered with a company that wants to FUEL me.  So.  Awesome.

Friday evening brought a free concert (with drink vouchers!) to Billy Idol.  We went with an 80’s theme and rocked the dancers from Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love music video.  We really pulled it off.  And, for the record, Billy Idol is still incredibly talented and totally inappropriate.  He said he liked us because we help others take care of themselves.  He also said, “You have to workout if you want to get f*cked up.”  He has the balance thing on lockdown.

The best part about hanging out with a ton of fitness coaches?  They are totally cool with waking up at 530am to workout even after a late night. Saturday morning, the main street in town was closed down for the Super Workout.  Over 20,000 coaches came to workout with Shawn T, Chalene Johnson, Tony Horton, Autumn Calebrese, and Joel & Jericho.

The day was packed with more personal development and training, and then headed back to Nissan Stadium for the official Closing Ceremony.

If Beachbody has anything right, it is recognition.  Remember the Coach Summit ticket and Billy Idol concert?  Both REWARDS for helping others take steps to change their lives!  And these are in addition to the rewards given month to month.

The closing ceremony was ah-mazing.  Star Diamond coached and above were honored and recognized in what almost seemed like a Hollywood award ceremony.  Top coaches shared their top tips for success, and Beachbody Challenge winners were announced, who each shared their story and remarkable weight loss transformation.  How inspiring are the winners?!

We woke up Sunday, enjoyed a rooftop Pilates sesh, followed by a superfood bowl, and began to reflect on the weekend, with our hearts full.

This weekend not only provided an opportunity for our team to connect from near and far, but provided a perfect balance of training, recognition, inspiration and FUN!

I've been doing a lot of thinking recently about how I ended up here. It all started with a decision to find a better mama balance.  Along the way, I have not only taken the reins on my journey, but guided others as they embark on theirs.  I've had faith in the path that brought me here.  Between now and next year in the Big Easy, we will have grown as a team, as individuals, and will have so much more to celebrate.   And to think this is just the beginning...

Where will you be one year from now?  #youcantoo

Project: Love Your Life

We are so EXCITED that you’re here to learn more about THE best kept secret.

Have you ever had a feeling that you were meant to do something BIGGER in this life? That you would leave a lasting impression and make a difference? That you were made for more, but you weren't exactly sure how that was going to happen?

Maybe you're here because you want to create a second income, be home with your children, retire your spouse, save for a college fund, dream home, or car. Maybe you want to get back in shape, feel your best, and get a great discount on your product while doing so. Maybe you just want an adventure...something that will challenge you to DREAM BIG again.

We feel a responsibility to share this AMAZING opportunity with others!  In order to explain the ins and outs of coaching, we created a series of videos that cover the different types of coaches, the fears, the misconceptions, the compensation plan, the daily tasks, and more!

Please watch each video to learn WHY we LOVE this coaching gig so much!

Most importantly, we ask that you keep an open mind, leave any self-doubt at the door, and dream a little! This is the place where dreams and leaders are BORN!

Maybe you’re interested in coaching but you still feel like you just don’t have the time to commit to building a business. But let’s break this down a little bit…

We all have 168 hours each week.
• 40 hours for your full-time job
• 56 hours of sleep (8/day if you're lucky)
• 15 hours of commuting/getting ready for work/OT
• 6 hours of working out (1 hr/day 6 days/week)

That leaves you 51 hours of FREE TIME!

Spend that time with your family, doing yard work, house chores, running errands, helping kids with homework, prepping meals, relaxing, shopping, whatever your heart desires.

NOW, what if I told you that you only need 7 of those leftover 51 hours to be an effective coach? What if ONE hour a day was all it took to build a successful business? It’s true!

I was able to build the roots of my business while working full time as a first grade teacher with a 50+ minute daily commute.  Chris and I worked opposite hours, so spent the majority of our time as a single parent to Ziggy.  And, in 16 months, I was able to leave my full time teaching position to focus solely on my coaching business.  It is totally possible, and we will provide you with all of the tools that you need to be successful in meeting your goals.

I offer an informational group monthly, where I share my story, what we do as coaches.  I share the common worries, fears and misconceptions, talk about how we earn money, what it costs to get started, and the training we provide.  Join my most up to date informational group here.

Read more about my story here.

You know, you're stronger than you think you are.

Shakeology. What's the deal with this stuff?

Let’s face it, the acronym for the Standard American Diet (SAD) is no accident.  It is terrible. Rarely do any of us eat enough whole, fresh foods; instead, we have turned into a society of convenience, and our health is paying the price.  Grocery store shelves are loaded with prepacked EVERYTHING--from crustless PB&Js to hardboiled and peeled eggs.  Convenience, yes.  Providing our bodies with nutrients and fuel?  No.

The reality is, we’re running our bodies on empty.  So, we are tired.  We are unhealthy.  We are unmotivated.  And like a car, we need fuel to go. Good fuel. Not empty-calorie junk. When you start thinking of food as fuel, you immediately realize how important Shakeology is in your daily diet, especially if you are relying on the convenience factor for at least one meal per day.

Take a look at the ingredient label.  What you will find is a shake derived from PLANTS.  Most of these plants are superfoods from around the world, packing in vital nutrients (70 to be exact!).   Shakeology is more than a protein shake.  It is more than a superfood shake.  It is like drinking a multivitamin, packing in what is equivalent to taking SEVEN trips to the salad bar.  There are amazing vegan varieties, too.

What's Inside:

-Protein blend:  To help build lean muscle, improve skin and hair, support mental clarity, reduce cravings.

-Antioxidants:  To promote a healthy heart and optimal blood pressure

-Phytonutrients:  Helps alkalinize (fancy term for removing acid build up to beat illness), promote detoxification.

-Adaptogens:  Protect from stress and support immune system.

-Pre and Probiotic enzymes:  Building and feeding the “Good Guys” in your gut, resulting in effective digestion, and regularity.

What Else Shakeology Can Do For You:

-Give you energy.  The range of B vitamins and trace minerals, like zinc and magnesium from whole food sources that regulate metabolism and increase energy. Wouldn't benefit from increased energy?  I don't believe you.

-Improve your mood. One scoop of Shakeology provides 100% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin B12. B12 is often linked with good mood and positive energy maintenance.

-Aid in detoxification. Many of the ingredients in Shakeology (spirulina, chlorella, flaxseed, barley grass, spinach) contain powerful detoxification compounds such as chlorophyll and alpha-linolenic acid. These ingredients may help rid the body of environmental toxins such as smog, heavy metals, herbicides, cleaning products, and pesticides. Kamut grass is another detoxifying ingredient known to cleanse the body and detoxify the cells to restore health and vitality.

--Boost immunity. The goji berries in Shakeology are one of the richest sources of antioxidants; not only does goji berry promote eye, reproductive, and circulatory health, but it also supports your immune system and promotes longevity!

--Beat cravings & stay satisfied longer: The protein, chromium, and nutrient-dense calories from superfoods in Shakeology work to help decrease your appetite. Chromium is important because it helps maintain blood-sugar levels, which reduces sugar cravings and promotes fat metabolism. Protein-rich meals are a great way to keep you feeling full, longer, too!

--Complete nutrition: Each Shakeology ingredient plays an important role in fueling your body on a cellular level, but it is important to remember that the synergy of the 70+ ingredients working together is what truly fuels your body to keep you feeling and looking amazing.

Real Talk:

Think about the mindless expenses that you create for yourself throughout the week.  Snacks, coffee, bottles of water or other beverages.  Impulse buys in check out lines like candy bars or energy bars.  Do you hit the drive thru or eat out for lunch a few times a week?  Or, hit the dollar section at Target?! (guilty.)  It adds up quickly!

Shakeology on home direct costs $28 per week, which breaks down to about $4 per serving.  And it's a meal.  Cutting out a few mindless buys throughout the week easily covers the cost of Shakeology, and chances are, it's a much better bang for your buck.

Bottom line is this:  Your body is the most expensive and valuable asset you will ever own. Treat it as such. Fuel it with nutrients NOT processed garbage.

With Shakeology, weight loss and sustained health become a BY-PRODUCT of dense nutrition.

What has Shakeology done for me? It has helped to curb cravings and fuels me energy as I begin my day.  It has replaced by daily multivitamin, improved my skin and nails, helps to reduce cravings and is a meal I look forward to each day!  It is my go-to meal in the morning during the week when my mornings are cray-cray, and helps to fill the gap between brunch and dinner on the weekends.  The cherry topper?  Toddler approved.

So, what are you waiting for??

Are you eager to learn more, and not ready to make to make the commitment? I was in the same place 10 months ago!  A Shakeology Sampler is a great way to try each flavor and see how you feel after drinking it daily for a week.  Order yours here.  Prefer the vegan sampler? (I do!) Try it here.

If you are ready to go “all in,” you can order your order in Shakeology on Home Direct here.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can receive Shakeology monthly with a 25% discount, complete this form, and I will reach out to you directly!

Keep fueling and rocking your badass self in the meantime!
